Weekly Update from our Principal – April 14, 2020

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Please take a minute to look at the messages from many of our teachers and staff.  They are trying their very best to navigate this new learning with their goal of supporting students through this challenging time.

Below is what you can expect this week:

  • Home base teachers and other school staff continuing to reach out to connect with families and students, as remote learning officially launches this week. Please send your child’s teacher an email if you have not yet connected since our return from Spring Break.
  • Home base teachers following up with those parents/guardians who have not yet provided consent for use of digital technology (a SchoolCashOnline email sent on Friday, April 3). We encourage all parents to provide this consent as soon as possible!
  • School administration is reaching out and providing more information to those families who have identified concerns about food security. If your circumstances have changed and you anticipate or are experiencing food security issues, please reach out. If you have questions please contact me by email or phone.

We are trying to reduce the stress or pressure on families during this already stressful time. We encourage students and families to engage, as best they can according to their own circumstances, in the “Continuation of Learning Plan” Students will advance to the next grade regardless of their personal engagement.

Once again if you have questions or need support in anyway please do not hesitate to contact me at djones@sd40.bc.ca or (604)517-1800.

Take care and be safe,

Debbie Jones
