Weekly Update from Our Principal – April 21, 2020
The staff and myself are so appreciative of all of your kind words and support during these unpredictable times. It takes a lot of patience to navigate the remote learning environment. Thank you to those of you who have completed the on-line consent. See the link below to complete the form.
What you can expect this week:
- continued learning opportunities from your child’s teachers and other school staff
- weekly learning plans emailed home to parents and posted to Google classroom by Monday morning for the week ahead
- calls from your child’s teacher or the school offering support if your child has not been regularly engaging in learning opportunities
- extra learning help blocks held online with our Learning Support
We still have quite a few students who need the online consent form filled out. Please use the link below to complete the form: https://newwestschools.schoolcashonline.com/Home/SignIn
If you are still in need of a loan for a Chromebook please follow the link to the application process. The district is lending Chromebooks out centrally: https://newwestschools.ca/sd40-chromebook-application/
Please continue to reach out if you need support from the school or have any questions regarding support. We are here to help.
Take care and be safe.

The CNW created a one page document for helpful resources for the general public:
Meal Support:
Beginning on Thursday of last week, lunches are being provided for those students whose parents indicated a need on the district survey. Lunches are available Monday through Friday from NWSS.
We are also able to lend some support with groceries where there is a need. As circumstances for all of us are changing frequently, please reach out if your family could benefit from meal support. Please contact Debbie Jones by phone (604- 517-1800) or email (djones@sd40.bc.ca).
Fraser River has two 3D Printers at work at NWSS producing the plastic component of protective face shields for healthcare workers on the frontline of the COVID -19 response.
Many thanks to NWSS teacher, Val Pontier, who is organizing New Westminster Schools’ response to the call to help provide Personal Protective Equipment for our healthcare workers!
