About Us - Learner Success

Programs and Services

Our school offers an array of programs and services designed to enhance and support student learning at New Westminster Schools.

Aboriginal Education:  Our program supports the academic and social success of Aboriginal students and provides rich cultural experiences for our students.   Our school has an Aboriginal Support Worker who provides support to our Aboriginal learners and shares Aboriginal culture in our school.

Early Learning:  Our school offers two programs to help children prepare for Kindergarten.   Ready, Set, Learn introduces four-year-olds to school and Welcome to Kindergarten offers suggestions so parents may help get their children ready for school.

Inclusive Education: We strive to be an inclusive school where all students are engaged and diversity is celebrated.   There is a continuum of services to support student learning offered through school-based and district-based staff. The English Language Learners (ELL) program assists students to develop the language skills and knowledge necessary for success in Canadian schools and society. The Settlement Workers in Schools (SWIS) Program supports immigrants, refugees and other eligible clients to meet their immediate settlement or ongoing needs after their arrival in Canada.

Family and Community:  Our school is committed to establishing and nurturing community partnerships wherever possible to offer programs and services in our schools that promote the well-being of our students and families.

Programs of Choice:  New Westminster Schools offers Early and Late French Immersion and the Montessori program at some of our schools.   Access to these programs is by application and there are annual parent information nights.
